Netgear has added to its line of smart switches with the launch of the ProSafe 24 Port 10/100 Smart Switch with Four Gigabit Ports and 24 PoE Ports (FS728TP).

Targeted at small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), the switch is described as a high-performance, easy-to-use, scalable solution that combines management capabilities, advanced security and quality of service (QoS) features.

"The FS728TP is the ideal solution for businesses and organisations that want to take advantage of the cost-savings, convenience, flexibility, and increased productivity from advanced, converged applications like IP (internet protocol) telephony," said Ahmad Zeidan, channel sales manager at Netgear Middle East.

The new range enables voice over IP (VoIP) phones, wireless application protocol (WAP), IP surveillance and management capabilities, without the cost and complexity of full layer two and three switches. Other features include access control list filtering, enhanced QoS for prioritisation of voice traffic, 802.1x port authentication, rate limiting and internet group management protocol (IGMP) snooping.

"The FS728TP is the perfect solution for growing, forward-looking businesses," Zeidan claimed.
