Touchmate has announced its arrival in the mobile phone market by unveiling what it claims is the ‘world's smallest phone'. The firm, which is a subsidiary of the Quality Group of Companies, says it is looking to crack the 400 million units a year EMEA phone market with the launch of its Diamond Cam Mobile TM-M800G model.

"Our decision to enter the mobile phone market is part of a calculated business plan to capture a bigger market share," explained Vasant Menghani, managing director at Touchmate.

He continued: "The expected rise in mobile units in the EMEA region presents a great market opportunity and with the launch of our Diamond Cam Mobile we hope to address the growing demand for smaller, yet stylish, feature-packed mobile devices in the Middle East."

Touchmate claims phones are a natural addition to a portfolio that already includes computers and accessories.

Its new phone - which weighs just 99 grams - is being made available at all Touchmate outlets as well as Sharaf DG, CompuMe and Computer Centre-Sharjah stores. "Our future plans include the introduction of new models and strategic partnerships with more mobile retailers across the GCC," added Menghani.
