MENA regional SAP users want to establish a regional version of Sapphire - a SAP knowledge exchange - because going to the US or European event is too expensive. They needed a Middle East version.

The call was part of moves aimed at upping communication between local users and the German software giant.

Users would also like to see more training and a clearer support structure, according to Majed Mutairi, MENA president for the SAP user group.

The group wanted to set up a Middle Eastern Influence Council and have a more unified voice in user concerns and swap information with SAP; the council could be set up this year.
