Enterprise software firm Infor is to acquire workforce management software provider Workbrain.

The US$227million deal, announced last week, will allow Infor to make a serious push into human capital management.

The Toronto, Canada-based firm provides a single web-based platform for large enterprises to manage workforce planning, labour forecasting, absence management, workforce scheduling, time and attendance and workforce analytics.

"Workbrain expands our current human capital management offering with unmatched domain expertise in the areas of time and attendance, scheduling, absence management and workforce planning," said Jim Schaper, chairman and CEO of Infor.

Analyst firm Gartner said the deal would be positive for both Infor and Workbrain, allowing Infor to get its hands on several blue chip clients and allowing Workbrain to compete better with rival Kronos.

The deal is subject to closing conditions and is expected to close in June.
