The Ethernet Alliance has appointed an Extreme Networks executive as chair of its technical committee.

Harpreet Chadha will also serve as vice president of technology for the industry body. Formed in 2006, the Ethernet Alliance promotes awareness, acceptance and advancement of technology and products based on existing and emerging IEEE 802 ethernet standards.

Chadha is director of product management at Extreme Networks where he oversees the development of scalable ethernet switching solutions that help enterprises and carriers build networks.

"Harpreet Chadha's active participation and technical role with the Ethernet Alliance helps further its mission of taking ethernet technology to the next level," said Chris Moore, MEA regional director for Extreme Networks. "Vendor cooperation is essential to the greater goal of promoting ethernet to its full potential."
