System security software vendor eEye Digital Security has fired its CEO, the firm confirmed this week.

The company did not provide a reason for the dismissal of Ross Brown, who took over as CEO in June last year.

Brown joined the company as chief operating officer (COO) in September 2005.

The US firm has appointed Kamal Arafeh as Brown's replacement. Arafeh was previously eEye's senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing.

Before joining eEye, Arafeh was vice president of sales and marketing for the Americas and Asia Pacific at security vendor Astaro. He has also worked for McAfee and Network Associates.

"Kamal Arafeh's leadership style motivates teams, employees and our channel partners. His creative vision will chart a new course for the company and his 20 years in security and sales management will drive eEye to the next level," Firas Bushnaq, eEye co-founder and executive chairman of the firm, said.
