VoEx International has signed a US$200million joint venture agreement with Iraqi operator Kalimat.
The 10-year deal will see VoEx support the telco's deployment of a national fixed wireless network. The newly-launched Kalimat Telecom will contract the network solution provider's engineering, marketing and operational experience and expertise to support its internet protocol (IP) network operations management systems, the firms said in a statement.
"The combined strengths of VoEx's network management capabilities and network operation experience will play a crucial role in supporting Kalimat Telecom operations as it enters a growing, deregulated market," Wilson Varghese, president of Kalimat Telecom, said in the statement.
Kalimat Telecom offers a combined voice carriage and data exchange scheme. It claims to be the first telco licensed by the Iraqi Commission for Media and Communication (CMC) to provide this service.
